This unit is equipped with J-Link CD changer control system. It is fully compatible with JVC's CD/MP3 changer; other CH-X series CD changers (except CH-X99 and CH-X100) can be controlled directly by this head unit-(Not compatible with MP3 discs). You cannot use the KD-MK series CD changers with this unit, even with an adapter.
Station Names:
You can assign names to 30 radio station frequencies, AM or FM. Each name can be up to 8 characters.
Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility:
The KW-XG500 has a steering remote control jack compatible with the optional SWI-JACK interface (Not Included); you can retain the use of your steering wheel and/or rear seat radio controls when replacing the factory head unit in select vehicles. The SWI-JACK is compatible with over 95% of the vehicles made from 1986 to the present. Compatible vehicles include many Acura, Audi, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hummer, Infiniti, Isuzu, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercury, Mini, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn, Suzuki, Toyota, and Volkswagen vehicles and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Please consult "Car Compatibility Check" (located above) to see if your vehicle is compatible.
CD Text:
Song and album titles are displayed when playing CD Text encoded discs on the built-in CD player and a connected CD changer that supports CD Text. MP3 and WMA tags are also displayed.
iPod Interface:
The optional KS-PD100 adapter (Not Included) allows an iPod digital music player with a dock connector to be connected and controlled by the KW-XG500. You'll be able to scroll through all your playlists, albums, artists, genres, and composers directly from the head unit. Song titles and other file information show up right on the head unit display. The iPod is also charged while it is connected to the KW-XG500.
Satellite Radio Ready:
You can connect a satellite radio tuner to the KW-XG500 in two ways. The unit is directly compatible with the SIRIUS SIR-JVC1 Satellite Tuner for JVC (Not Included). The Terk XMDirect universal XM Satellite Radio tuner (Not Included) can be connected to and controlled by the head unit when used with the XMDirect Smart Adapter for JVC (Not Included). The satellite radio signal can also be used to automatically set the clock. NOTE: subscription to SIRIUS or XM Satellite Radio is required...
Optional Input Adapter:
An optional JVC Line Input Adapter (Not Inclcuded) may be used to provide an additional auxiliary audio input on this unit. This feature allows you to connect a portable audio player, such as a portable MP3 player, to this unit as an additional audio source. The adapter connects to the CD changer input on this unit. When the adapter is connected to this unit, a CD changer cannot be connected.
